End of Year Thoughts

I’ve never taken a  break from blogging since I started this blog in 2011, but I think it’s time for a breather until after the new year.

At this time, I often think about people who have lost loved ones they miss even more than usual around this traditional family time. I tell myself that if it were me, I would manage to get through the hardest times by remembering the lost ones with good memories of them. If I need to have a little cry in private, so be it, but then I would pull myself together and try to focus on the joy of others.

Soon a new day will begin. It will be just another day without all the traditions that come with bittersweet memories attached, but it will be a new day and a challenge for me to make the most of it.

I like to think ahead and make plans and goals and things to look forward to – one of the reasons I love January.

I want to thank you all for being there. Blogging would not be fun without you.

I hope that, whatever form your celebrations take at this time of year, you have lots of warm, fuzzy  times with friends and family. I look forward to seeing you on your blogs and mine in the new year.

  2. Anneli, we all deserve a break. Although blogging can be enjoyable it also requires a lot of time, not only in responding to fellow bloggers’ posts, writing new posts and responding to comments on the posts but there’s also updating our blogs (something I have neglected). Blogging, if we allow it, can become a full time job. The thing to remember though is that we are not obliged to blog. We are our own blogging bosses. And sometimes we need to recharge or take time out to work on a novel or just hang out with non-virtual friends and family or simply to reconnect with ourselves.

I wish you a very restful and peaceful holiday filled with fun things to do and look forward to continuing our friendship in the new year. ❤

    • I think we all agree that while we love blogging and the community we’ve built and continue to build, it takes work to be involved in it and sometimes it’s good to step back and breathe. All the best for your year end festivities. Talk to you again soon.

  8. Anneli, very understandable to take a holiday break. I’ll probably post my last one this week until January as well. I know what you mean about missing loved ones during these family related holidays. It’s okay to have a good cry when needed. I’ll be thinking of you and wishing you many blessings. I’m so grateful we found each other through blogging. Hugs.

    • Yes, that’s a long time. Mind you, I don’t post as often as some do. Still, it’s always something to think about – what might make an interesting post. It’ll be good to have a short break, but I know even so, I’ll miss it. Have a good holiday yourself, Diane.

  19. I took a two-week break also, Anneli. Diana Peach once told me it’s a very important thing for us bloggers to do, and I agree with her. I hope you made it through the holidays okay. Yes, the desserts are sweet, but the holiday itself can be bittersweet. ❤
