Today I volunteered to “hover” over the quilt exhibits at the local fall fair exhibition.
Many of the quilts required a high degree of quilting skill, and all of them took a lot of hours to complete. The quilt below is called Tantal”Eye”Zing. It has many tiny points that meet other lines and all connections have to be accurate.
A real challenge to sew, but what a rewarding finished product. You may just be able to see the beading and extra ornamentation sewn onto the quilt.
Smaller projects such as table runners are practical as well as beautiful.
These owls told me they would like to come to my house and stand guard by the front door.
The 3-D boxes below are really a flat quilt sewn with black, white, and gray fabric, cut and sewn to give a 3-D effect. But believe me, the quilt is flat. Really, it is!
The quilt below is noted for its interesting use of colour combinations. Also, the tiny squares are not easy to line up so all the corners meet exactly, but they do.
There are many more quilts in the exhibition, but there is not room to show them all here.
The man in the photo below did a super job of filling the hall with beautiful, soothing music. He gave me permission to take his picture but I didn’t tell him I wanted to put him in my blog post so I have blurred his face in case he didn’t want the publicity he is unaware he is getting.
The music was great but I just loved his outfit.
Those pants!!!!!!

Oh no, Hans! You’d drive yourself crazy trying to figure out if the depth is real or just perception. It would set you right back to the days when people wondered if the earth was flat or round. 😉 LOL

Wow! Beautiful quilts in your photos. I love them all, especially the beadwork on the first one. The 3D quilt is impressive, but how can a person not get dizzy making it? I love the musician’s socks!

Lots of work, for sure. I think I would have trouble with the dizzy quilt too. The socks! Yes, bright red for the fair.

Yeah, that’s what I was going to point out: forget the pants – how about those socks?
HA!
When you say you volunteered I’m assuming you were a monitor of sorts? Making sure no one without gloves handled the displayed quilts?
Fun job!

That’s right, and to hand out little voting slips for viewer’s choice. You’ve obviously done this before, Laura. It’s a bit boring in a way, but I did get to do a lot of people watching, and I met some very interesting, nice people. And one of them was the volunteer who played the harmonica and dressed in his funny pants and socks. You can see that he’s a volunteer for the fair by the wristband he’s wearing.

I didn’t enter a quilt, but the first one is Gladys’s. She’s a really good quilter. A good mentor for me.

Wow, those are some real stunners! The pants even more so hahahahaha. That first quilt is calling my name because of the colors! The 3D one is a little too realistic for me (makes me migrainey).

Did you end up taking the owls home? It’s lovely. And I love the table runners too. And the man who sorta posed for you – delightful. 🙂
Oh, and Queen Ann’s Lace (on your photo border) – I adore them. They are so prolific around here this summer. Heaven.
