For the third day in a row, I’ve put walnuts grown in my backyard on pieces of firewood in the woodshed. I had hoped that Lincoln would help himself to the food on these very cold, windy, rainy nights.
He did!
Today I put more walnuts out and he hovered nearby, not even running far. I went back into the house to get the camera, and he ran behind the woodshed. In a moment his curiosity got the better of him and he peeked around the corner.
As I didn’t go away, he decided he might as well go ahead and eat. He’s a bit messy, with food on his arm, but that reminded me of his injury a couple of weeks back. You can see that it’s healed, but the fur is uneven at the edge near his elbow.
Since he sat so still, eating, I made a little video of him having lunch.

Outstanding Anneli!!! It is so nice to see him enjoying his meal. Now I am not so sure if it was Lincoln or his love. But it doesn´t really matter, I enjoyed this little video a lot. Love your blog posts!

Thanks, Ursula. I wondered about that too, but then I saw that he had some fur missing on his arm so I think it was Lincoln. (Remember he hurt his arm a few weeks ago?)

He really is. I’d love to have him in the house so I could cuddle him and watch TV with him, but my sweet little spaniels would kill him. Anyway, squirrels don’t belong in the house. I’m happy though, that he doesn’t feel he has to run away from me so much anymore.

He is. I’m going to try to focus on other topics, but Lincoln is dear to me.
All the best, Hans.

Thanks, Carol. Lincoln is having a happy Christmas. I thought that while it’s so chilly, why not give the little guy some extra treats. Life doesn’t have to be hard all the time.

He’s taken up residence in the woodshed. It’s a good place to be just now as the wind is bitter cold.

Thanks, John. I have so much fun trying to get close for more photos, but the Captain says it’s not a good idea to make them so tame (for their own safety). I know he’s right, but I just love these little guys (plural, because his girlfriend is around all the time now. I think they’re “going steady” ;-))

Going steady, I love it! You need a photo of them together. I have posts on the blog about our Golden Mantled Ground Squirrels in the desert, they look like Chipmunks but are different.

I love chipmunks or any little critters that look like them. I’ll check out your post about the ground squirrels. As for pictures of my two squirrels together, you missed the “Oh My Goodness” post. They are together in the last picture, but I’m afraid they were moving so fast all my photos were blurry that time. https://wordsfromanneli.com/2019/12/20/oh-my-goodness/
