I’m not sure what’s going on, whether Della sent Lincoln out to find more bedding to make a cozier sleeping place in this stormy weather, or if she told him she’s expecting baby Lincolns sooner than we thought, but it seems that Lincoln has been sent on a mission.
“The house needs more insulation. Bring back stuff to make it cozier.”
There’s just one problem. Lincoln hasn’t figured out that sometimes loose ropes are tied on at the other end.
What got my attention was a squirrel swinging on a rope like in a Tarzan movie. By the time I got out there with the camera he had settled down considerably.

Ever so funny! π I once watched a squirrel trying to get one of those big horseapples [the fruit of our Bodarks] up into the tree. That was the size of a regular orange! He tried to get it up the tree, and after about 2 – 3 feet the weight just turned him around and he either lost it or scampered down with it in his mouth. Whatever happened, he didn’t give up and tried again and again, with nearly the same results all the time. Sometimes he couldn’t even get hold of it on the ground. And then, suddenly, I looked up and saw him way up on one of the thick branches with the horseapple in his mouth, scurrying farther up. That was when I lost sight of him and I kept wondering if he might have been able to store it somewhere. My guess is he wasn’t. I still am sorry I didn’t have a video camera ready that time.

They are ever so cute, “putzig” as we’d say in German.

He’s so darn cute! Doesn’t seem like he got some new bedding from the rope? When I was a kid riding my bike down the street, a squirrel fell off of the bottom wire and went smack! Right on the road in front of me. I bet that hurt!

Ouch! I know they do have their owies. But this guy, before I got the camera, was pulling on the rope and suddenly he was Tarzaning across to the next boards. Too funny.

They’ll probably be well hidden, but it’s nice to catch glimpses of what they’re up to.

He sure was stuffing his cheeks. I wonder if it hurt when it all pulled out as he back away and the rope was still attached. Funny little guys!

Looks like he’s got the munchies. Happy New Year, Anneli. I’ve been out of commission with the flu, so I’m a little late.

He and girlfriend Della were waiting for me to put the walnuts and sunflower seeds out for them today. They know cold weather is coming in a day or so. I’ll make sure they don’t starve. And yes, Lincoln is a star! Thanks, Carol.
