Do you remember “Hidden Pictures” in the puzzle books for kids? The drawings were usually full of squiggly lines and somewhere in the maze of lines were smaller hidden pictures. The goal was to find them all.
In the photo below, there is only one hidden picture for you to find. It’s my friend Lincoln, the squirrel. Can you find him?
You may have to click to enlarge the photo to find him. If you can’t find him even after clicking to enlarge the photo, I’ve made it easy for you by adding the cropped photo below, that zeroes in on him.
I’m hiding cones for later snacks,
Someplace behind these wooden stacks.
Some niches in the wood will be
Where future goodies wait for me.
The problem is to finally choose,
And that location not to lose.
So many possibilities,
They challenge my abilities
To know what’s where and how to find
The yummy snacks I’ve left behind.

He was very busy today. And yes, he does blend in with his surroundings. He’s wearing his own brand of camo gear.

I needed the cropped photo, but I found him! I like that you’ve named him. 🙂 I can’t keep the squirrels out of my potted plants. It seems that in the fall that’s where they buried them, and now, although there’s plenty for them to eat around our oak tree, they are digging up the buried treasure. They make such a mess, but I’ve had to learn to let them be, and just clean up after them!

They’re so cute. Lincoln is allowed to pretty much do what he wants around here. Glad to hear you have squirrels too, Debra.

I did have to take a good look, but I found him! A bit like “Where’s Waldo?” 🙂 Nice to see that he’s through the winter so well. And I have to say that I’m a bit jealous of all your greenery!

Don’t worry. The greenery comes with the price of a winter of wind and rain, alternated by rain and wind. So glad you found “Waldo.”

Did you see him in the cropped picture (the second one)? He’s just at the end of the very top log – the one with the broken piece of branch sticking out. Look on the right of that piece of wood. He’s sitting on the ground there. Glad you like the poem.

This is kind of fitting for me at this point. I recently down loaded an game app where you have to search for items in a picture setting. Sometimes it’s a squirrel. Your Lincoln was harder to find than the one in my game.

I’m glad you didn’t give up. I know he was very hard to see in the first picture. Did you find the towhee that one of our commenters (Lynne) discovered? He’s just above Lincoln, and I didn’t even know he was there!

Oh Lincoln, I am embarrassed to admit you are one smart little boy. Too smart for me. I still couldn’t find you. (I am having a vision problem this week though). I know you are cute, though, and Anneli writes very cute poems about you!

Will it get better? I’ve just had a cataract removed so went through that for a few days but now it’s GREAT! I hope your eye troubles will pass.

Oh, congrats on being all over that! I do have cataracts, but they are mild. I have vitreous detachment right now, and it’s a pretty bad case because my right eye is really blurry. The doctor says it ought to be better in weeks or months (as long as the retina doesn’t detach), but my friend says hers never went away :/.

I had that a few years ago. I had lifted a heavy plant pot on the deck and then watered it with the hose. The dirt splashed up as the water gushed out suddenly and I jerked up. I had one swampy eye for weeks (a vitreous detachment, they told me) but it finally went away. So take heart. I hope my experience negates the other person’s bad experience. Not fun though, is it?!

That was a fun Hidden Picture game, Anneli, thanks. I found him in the second photo but frankly I was having a hard time seeing anything besides that gorgeous pile of stacked wood. Beautifully cut, freshly done, and neatly stacked.

Yes, that isn’t the clearest photo to look for him on. Glad you saw him on the cropped version. The firewood is from the leaning tree that I did a post about some weeks ago.

I am amazed that I found him, my eyes aren’t as good as they used to be. I was too lazy to copy and blow it up, so it was with the naked eye, plus glasses.
