Hmm, that looks like something tasty. Think I’ll fly on down for a bite of lunch.
Good thing I spotted this raccoon carcass. Tastes not bad.
Oh, darn. I got a spot of blood on my shirt.
Hmpf! I just know the Missus will be annoyed. Oh well, it was worth it.

We saw this guy near the composting facility when we went to get a load of compost. I guess he was looking for rats at the dump or some other scavenger.

I’m sure he was watching for something to eat. I was lucky to get more than the same old boring stance and expression.

The photos are so clear and beautiful! I love seeing them perched up in the trees keeping an eye on their territory. Such majestic birds.

Thanks, Sonja. They are so much bigger than they look when they’re up in a tree. But they are kind of special.

Humorous photo essay on a messy eater! We have many eagles in the Arrow Lakes area, but they prefer to move to milder climates in the winter.

They are here year round, but are much more active in the spring. Glad you have them in the Arrow Lakes area too. They’re interesting to watch.

A true joy to see these clear and stunning photos of the bald eagle, Anneli. And fun words too. I chuckled outloud at how much that third photo really looks like he’s looking down at the blood stain on his shirt. Great fun.

I thought it was odd too, how he’s looking down at himself. More fun to catch a picture like that than just the usual stately poses. Just goes to show, eagles are people too.

Thanks, Luanne. We tend to ignore eagles because they re around us all the time, but once in a while you see one posing, begging to have his picture taken, and that’s what happened here.

Thanks, Tone. The eagles will be happy because it’s herring fishery time and there will be food aplenty for them.

There are always lots of herring and their roe on the beaches because that’s what they’re there for, spawning near the beach.
