The Necromancer’s Daughter

Diana Wallace Peach has done it again. She has written a novel that you won’t be able to put down.

All the emotions of human nature play their part in this exciting novel. Love, adventure, and intrigue, with just enough of a touch of magic to be believable, all feature in this page turner.

A healer and dabbler in the dark arts of life and death, Barus is as gnarled as an ancient tree. Forgotten in the chaos of the dying queen’s chamber, he spirits away her stillborn infant, and in a hovel at the meadow’s edge, he breathes life into the wisp of a child. He names her Aster for the lea’s white flowers. Raised as his daughter, she learns to heal death.

Then the day arrives when the widowed king, his own life nearing its end, defies the Red Order’s warning. He summons the necromancer’s daughter, his only heir, and for his boldness, he falls to an assassin’s blade.

While Barus hides from the Order’s soldiers, Aster leads their masters beyond the wall into the Forest of Silvern Cats, a land of dragons and barbarian tribes. She seeks her mother’s people, the powerful rulers of Blackrock, uncertain whether she will find sanctuary or face a gallows’ noose.

Unprepared for a world rife with danger, a world divided by those who practice magic and those who hunt them, she must choose whether to trust the one man offering her aid, the one man most likely to betray her—her enemy’s son.

A healer with the talent to unravel death, a child reborn, a father lusting for vengeance, and a son torn between justice, faith, and love. Caught in a chase spanning kingdoms, each must decide the nature of good and evil, the lengths they will go to survive, and what they are willing to lose.

About the Author

A long-time reader, best-selling author D. Wallace Peach started writing later in life when years of working in business surrendered to a full-time indulgence in the imaginative world of books. She was instantly hooked.

In addition to fantasy books, Peach’s publishing career includes participation in various anthologies featuring short stories, flash fiction, and poetry. She’s an avid supporter of the arts in her local community, organizing and publishing annual anthologies of Oregon prose, poetry, and photography.

Peach lives in a log cabin amongst the tall evergreens and emerald moss of Oregon’s rainforest with her husband, two owls, a horde of bats, and the occasional family of coyotes.

  24. Anneli & Diana,
I bought your book, Diana! I’m so impressed with your writing style, and with your marketing strategy. I fell short on marketing my first book, even though I had a plan, it wasn’t enough. I’m enjoying the story immensely. The genre is new to me, and I like the change from historical fiction. Congratulations on the book tour. 📚🎶 Christine

    • I agree, Christine, the marketing is the hardest part. It’s good to have help from our friends. Thanks for your support.

    • Thanks so much for picking up the book, Christine, and for the kind comment regarding my writing style. I’m thrilled that you’re enjoying it. ❤ Marketing is a mystery, isn't it? I keep trying new things, and this time, I'm trying to support this wonderful community at the same time. We all lift each other up. Have a wonderful Friday and Happy Reading. ❤

      • Thanks, Diana, for you comment. Your book cover is perfect too. I did have community support and was grateful for their help. I also know an unknown author’s first book doesn’t get high interest. I’m writing a sequel based on readers 5 star reviews and wanting to know what happens next. And I will have my editor’s help in marketing the book. Change of strategy. And the sequel, set in the 1960s, will have more relatable history (Woodstock & the Vietnam War) to readers. Happy weekend to you. 📚🎶 Christine

  26. Bravo! I’m here because Diana sent me! So nice to meet you, too! The fall weather is also bringing me, too. (Well it’s hot here now, but the anticipation of the fall weather…). My parenthetical was unnecessary. I loved the advice!

  27. I won’t give any spoilers, since so many people are just beginning their read of The Necromancer’s Daughter (or are yet to read it). So I’ll keep it short here.

As I said in my official review of this book, I’m extremely well-versed in this genre. And Diana is up there with the very best “biggies” as far as true fantasy authors. When reading one of Diana’s stories, I’m never surprised… by her ability to surprise.

I bought this book, but it will be another month until I read it.
The good thing about that is, my review won’t have to compete with all of the amazing writers out here.

  45. I bought Diana’s book as soon as it came out and I’ve started it and am a bit peeved. I HAVE TO WORK but I WANT TO SIT FOR HOURS AND READ AND READ AND READ The Necromancer’s Daughter. I’ve enjoyed all of Diana’s book, but this one has hooked me even tighter than her others. And I was so excited to see your name in the Acknowledgement page as the copy editor, Anneli. I’m hoping I’m the one who helped Diana find you (or did she help ME find you?) Whatever, we are blessed with your talents, not just as an editor, but as a novelist as well.

  46. We’re lucky to have authors like Diana, committed to telling new and imaginative tales of high fantasy (versus yet more Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings prequels). Cannot wait to read The Necromancer’s Daughter! Great review, Anneli!
