About

This blog is a collection of “blurbs” from life as I see it. Sometimes the blurb involves a funny little story, sometimes a photo or two, sometimes both. I enjoy interacting with my readers so please don’t be shy. Leave a comment or click Like if you find it even mildly entertaining.

My blurbs have no rhyme or reason. They range from the past to the present and have no set length. I use as many words as it takes to tell the story. The topics, too, represent whatever happens to be in my head at the moment. It might be an anecdote from long ago, or it might be a snippet of my travels in the distant past or the present. I never know what will be on my blog next, so bring an open mind if you’re coming to read.

And of  course, I’ll be trying to interest you in the novels I’ve written, each of which has its own page to click on the menu of this  blog. Please visit these pages to find out more about my books.

  1. Hi There,
Would you be willing to participate in something we are doing for Susie Lindau on Friday morning? I am contacting as many of her followers as possible. My thought is that we all post on our own blogs on Friday with the same title, “Susie Strong”. The content would say something simple like, We are thinking of you. I haven’t known Susie for long but this blogging world is such a family. I thought it would be nice for her to see this message from as many of us as possible. Her husband is going to be updating us after her surgery. He can tell her or she can see it once she is up to it. Are you in? Thanks, Maria aka brickhousechick

  11. Always exciting to find a new author writing about BC! Darlene Jones (via a Writer’s Wednesday promo for my new release over on P.C. Zick’s blog) recommended your book, The Wind Weeps and imagine my surprise when I hop over to Amazon and see it is up for free! Many thanks. It is downloaded and on my TBR soon list. I’ve promoted the book out on Facebook and Twitter. Best of luck. Hope we can connect again.

  16. I just had to come and look – your name caught my eye. Anneli – Finnish? I am Raili, live in Australia, born in Finland. Came here with my family as a kid. Your blogging style sounds very similar to mine. I rarely know what I will be posting till I sit down to write it. I’m going to poke around here a bit, so you’ll probably notice my footprints.

    • I’ve heard that Anneli is a popular name in Finland and Sweden. I was born in Germany and I suspect my parents just liked the name and borrowed it from Finland and Sweden. Anyway, I’m very happy to “meet” you, Raili, and hope to see you on my blog again. I will check yours out too.

    • Thank you very much, Werner. That puts a smile on my face. I’m enjoying your blog as well, as I love nature, animals and birds, especially. I was thinking that since you are German and speak English, you might want to look at the book I’ve written about a love story in postwar Germany. Check out Julia’s Violinist on my website, http://www.anneli-purchase.com It might be something you’re interested in. The other books might interest you if you like nature and a good story. Sorry to be trying to “sell” my books, but I did think of you because of your good command of English, and an understanding of both nature and Germany. I promise I won’t hit you with any more sales pitches. Back to our nature blogging.
By the way, that photo on my header is of Montana in very early October, and an unexpected snowfall.

  27. You commented on Lynn d’Arty-Cross’s site that you had battled Bishops Weed/Snow on the Mountain with some success. Are you willing to share what you’ve done? Mine is crowding out my day-lilies. Sigh.

  28. Hi Anneli; bist Du Deutsche? Dann wär dein Name ja ein Diminutiv von Anne oder Anna. I ‘knew’ you from your comments on DK’s blog but I never thought of you having your own blog. Shall now visit you too and surely, with the wisdom and friendliness you display, you and I shall fast become friends…. 🙂

    • Thanks so much, Kiki. Yes, I was born in Germany. We came to Canada when I was six years old. My mother made sure I learned German, but of course it’s not as good as if I’d gone to school there. I had about a month of German school and then we came to Canada. My mother’s name was Anne (sometimes called Anna) and I was named for her. Thanks for being in touch and for visiting my blog, Kiki. You might be interested in my book Julia’s Violinist. Maybe check out the blurb and see if that interests you. Just click on the image of the book on the sidebar of my blog.
