An unsuspecting young fellow had a big surprise at a local lake when he tried to bring ashore a trout he had hooked on his fishing line.
Turn on your sound and watch his surprise.
I hope the thief has enough skill to work around the hook and doesn’t eat it.
P.S. I would like to give credit to the photographer but at the same time I am trying to keep the young fellow relatively anonymous.

He’s been doing this a while. I hope he’s smart enough to know what to do.

He’s been at it for a while, and I do think the fish gets ripped off the hook.

Poor otter, I don´t think that she can get rid of the hook.

I think what happens in most cases is that the hook rips out when the otter grabs the fish. In this video it even looks like the fish just came off the hook when the otter got it.

Wow. Yes, you never want to fight an otter for a fish. Interesting video for sure. Happy Saturday Anneli. Allan

They can be quite ferocious when cornered, but this one went away happy.

Too cute, Anneli. I’d fish more to feed the little critter, but without the hook!

wow, my first thought is ‚what happened to the otter with the hook in his mouth‘…. the whole experience is really ‚catchy‘ but I fear for the otter. In any case, the boy has a story to tell to his friends! That is SO unusual. Thanks for sharing, Anneli.

Yes, that’s my concern too, but this otter follows fishermen around in their little boats and has been stealing their fish for quite a while. I really hope he stays “hook free.”

I hope the otter isn’t full of hooks, but other than that, yes, fun for everyone, especially the boy.

Wow, that was incredible! I’ve never seen an otter out of water. That rhymed (unintentionally). 🙂 I hope the otter was okay though!

This otter has been following boats and stealing fish for a long time. I do worry about all the hooks, but maybe (I hope) it is getting smart about them.
