Thankful on Thanksgiving Day

Since those unfortunate fat white turkeys have been raised in a domestic poultry setting, these wild turkeys have a lot to be thankful for every Thanksgiving Day. American Thanksgiving Day is on Nov. 28 this year. It’s still a few days away. Time for us to think about how blessed we are.

“Darlin’,” Mr. Turkey said,

“Sleep in trees or we are dead.”

“I see no coyote near,

Therefore, we have naught to fear.”

“But your night sight isn’t great,

Mildred learned that; she got ate.”

“You mean ‘eaten,’ don’t you love?

Fine, we’ll watch from up above.”

“Thank you, Lord, for common sense,

Otherwise, things could be tense.”

“We can roost up in a tree,

Count our blessings, you and me.”

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. And yes, let’s count our blessings. There are way more than you think.

Are those turkeys wandering near where you live, Anneli? I have seen them here but didn’t know they were on the Island.

There are so many things to be thankful for in life — including turkeys who understand proper grammar! Thanks for the smiles, and the reminder.

Poor turkeys. Nice poem and pix. We spotted a family of wild turkeys when we were in New Brunswick. Happy Monday Anneli. Allan

Just for that darling poem, I’ll have cow (prime rib) for Thanksgiving dinner instead.

My dad has those wild turkeys that come to his nonworking farm. He sends us pictures.

Happy Thanksgiving, Anneli. I feel like there’s more to give thanks for this year. 😉

“…let’s count our blessings. There are way more than you think.” Wise advice, Anneli, and something I need to hear now and again. Hopefully Mildred and her mister will get through Thanksgiving unscathed (and unroasted). Thanks for the fun. 🙂
