Snowy Hills

Way up high on the hills, the rain turned into snow.

Why is it that white snow comes out of black clouds?

How did that sunshine get through to the hills when the whole valley is in shade?

Can you guess where the deer are that used to live up in the hills? Where are the birds? Bears? Cougars? Squirrels?

I can only hope that those who didn’t wander down to lower elevations are hibernating in some cozy den. Probably even those who might hibernate would have come down from the highest parts of the hills, if they were able.

Meanwhile, I’m in my cozy den at home, not hibernating, but also waiting for winter to pass.

A new year is coming. That gives me hope that spring won’t be too far away.

Have a happy year ahead, everyone.

All the best in 2025.

Just a note that the ‘snow’ on your page makes reading and commenting somewhat difficult. The page scrolls quite slowly, and the lag time between hitting a key and the letter appearing is at least a second. It may be different for different operating systems, but the same thing happens for me on every page using the ‘snow.’

On the other hand, your photo is gorgeous. That’s a snow I can appreciate! (I just read a mention that, in ten days or so, it’s finally going to be hard freeze time for us, with a 10% chance of ‘maybe snow.’)

I am sure the wild animals are all hunkered down warm and safe. Amazing how they survive the elements, particularly in our area. Have a Happy New Year Anneli. Allan

Happy New Year to you too. Don´t worry about the wildlife, they know their way. I also wonder why clouds are black. But this way we can recognize that there are clouds.

Best wishes for 2025, Anneli! Where I live, winter has not started yet. Nature seems confused. Recently I found a strawberry plant with berries and flowers in the garden. So strange!

I love your questions, and Mother Nature has her own agenda. Stay cozy, spring will be here, albeit not soon. Happy New Year, Anneli.
