The sunrise is now at half past four and the sun sets at ten past ten, days are long, but it the wind has been from the north for weeks and it keeps the weather cold.
A beautiful photo! The great blue heron appears so calm and attentive. The thought of the frog it might be eyeing adds a touch of tension to the image. You can almost feel the stillness and anticipation—the moment between predator and prey. It’s fascinating how nature and animal behavior continue to captivate us. Thank you for sharing this special moment!

Yes, they sure are, and when they strike it’s so fast you almost can’t see it. Amazing.

I wouldn’t want to be a frog in those waters near the heron.

Almost, the weather has been colder than normally, but birch trees have already tiny leaves, we call them mouse ears.

Oh dear. That is quite a bit behind our progress here, but then you make up for it later with your very long hours of daylight.

I love to be able to peek into the animal world and imagine what they are thinking or doing. Have a great week, Rosie.

They really are like sisters to our grey herons. Not sure I’d be able to tell them apart if they didn’t live on separate continents!
