Dear Anneli
We have several trees like this in our garden. We leave most of the apples for the birds or compost them.
We wish you a happy week

I never heard of this type of apple. Apparently good for apple sauce and green juice. I do like a tart apple, but, perhaps this one would eb too tart. Happy Monday Anneli. Allan
I think you’d like it for cooked recipes, and you’re right – it’s not easy to find these trees in the nursery anymore. I’m sure they’re out there, but I couldn’t find any when I was shopping for a new one some time ago.

Do the apples turn transparent when they become over-ripe? I used to have a tree like that. Very sour but made the best pie!

I think they’re called transparents because the skin is very thin and almost transparent. It’s a very light yellow-green. But yes, the best for pie.

Yes, a light yellow-green. I did mean that it’s the skin that becomes transparent. I haven’t seen one of these in a long time. Cheers.

I was going to buy another one and couldn’t find it in the nurseries, but I didn’t try again later.

The birds don’t mind them at all.

This tree is so pretty that it doesn´t need to give you sweet apples. The sour apples are good for several dishes.

Interesting challenge–to make them edible to our taste.

They make excellent pie but I wouldn’t want to eat one just off the tree. They have pucker power.

A beautiful tree but I’ll pass on the apples if they are sour. ❤️

Not the best to eat just off the tree. You can eat them but they will make you pucker up.

Such a pretty tree. I guess the birds enjoy their apples.

I try to leave them a few, but I do use these apples for baking.
