Young Eagle

My feathers sure are looking drab,

Not striking like my dad’s,

He says it’s so no one will grab

And hurt us younger lads.

That’s right, son, when you grow you’ll see,

Your feathers will be fine,

You’ll turn out handsome, just like me,

The girls will stand in line.

Great captures, Anneli, especially that second one! Beautiful. And yes, those young ones need their camouflage.

Such a majestic bird. Hard to believe the young one will turn into that, but I expect, there are a few humans that start out as plain and come into their own as they get older. Happy Tuesday Anneli. Allan

Yup, rather drab. Sort of “hawkish” in the bird sense. But he’ll be majestic in time. Great pics, Anneli.

I liked those bald eagles on the Charlottes as long as they left the chickens and other small creatures alone. The guinea fowls were good warners. Nice little poem again.

What a difference between young and old. I didn’t know that.

Anneli, your photos capture the timeline of a bald eagle’s maturity. I’ve never witnessed an immature eagle so this post is exciting to see.
