Anyone for a swim? Actually, some people did go in for a Polar Bear swim on January 1.
But there are crazy people in all parts of the world. This limerick is for all those crazy people who went into the freezing water that day and froze their buns off.
*** I did not post a photo of those “brave”? swimmers here.

I love your ocean pictures, Anneli. And yes, those crazy polar plunge people! Definitely not my thing.

It’s asking for a heart attack. (They do sometimes have the ambulance standing by.)

Oh yes, very true that heart attacks can result from a sudden plunge into freezing water, especially among us older types.

It’s got to be a shock to the system.

Another great limerick Anneli. Love the cold grey ocean shots. Not a fan of taking the plunge. Happy Thursday. Allan

No way you’d get me into that water in January.

There’s not a chance I’d do that on purpose, but I’m glad some did. It gave you the inspiration for a limerick that gave me a good morning laugh!

I went to the beach one January to watch the swim and couldn’t help thinking … “WHY? Why do they do it?”

Fun! 😂 I hope there were EMS trucks there…

I didn’t go down to watch this year, but I would say they were probably there, just in case.

Good, the shock to your body must be intense. That might put me six foot under… 💀

Silly sinkers seem so silly showing spectators spasmodic scenes.

Beautiful pictures, a cautionary tale, and to be sure…not an activity I plan on taking the plunge with anytime soon!

People who do it seem to have fun (for a few minutes anyway), but I don’t want my heart to stop just yet.
