Harvest Time

The squirrels have been harvesting hazelnuts from the trees and hiding them to be retrieved in the winter.

Along comes Woodrow the Woodpecker, innocently looking for bugs.

Ronald Rabbit knows the squirrels wouldn’t like their stash to be unearthed, but, “What to do? What to do?”

“Mind your own business, Ronald,” says Woodrow. “That’s “What to do’!”

“I’m telling,” shouts Ronald. “The people will let their dog out and then you’ll be sorry.” Meanwhile, I have one leg raised and ready to make a run for it.

“Look out, you guys! Here I come. And don’t forget! I may be a teddy bear in the house, but I’m a wolverine in the field.”

“Are you serious?” Woodrow calls to Ronald. “Now that the dog is out, we’ll all have to make a run for it.”

“Aw, do what you want. I’m going up here to higher ground and — oh! What have we here? A hole in the tree. Anybody home?”

And so life goes on … unless you’re a bug in that tree.

A is for Anneli

I thought I would attempt a project that would take me to Christmas. The plan is to focus on the letters of the alphabet in their natural sequence and blab on about something that begins with that letter each day.

I hope the posts won’t be very long, since it means a post every day, and my usual policy is not to post more than once a week, twice at the most. There are too many posts to follow if we all posted every day, so I ask your indulgence for 26 days, once for each letter of the alphabet.

Starting with A, I will introduce myself after about thirteen or so years of blogging.  My name is Anneli, and for those of you who struggle with the pronunciation, it rhymes with Emily.

I’m all about taking care of my best dog, Emma, an English field cocker spaniel who thinks she is human.

Second to that priority, my passions are writing, copy editing, cooking, and taking care of the little birds and animals that live around me.

My novels are pictured on the sidebar of the blog, in case you are interested in checking them out.

My main philosophy in life is to try to do good things to make the world a better place, be creative if possible, and do no harm to others.

So there you are, your letter for today:

A is for Anneli.

Breakfast Interruptus

See how I can multi-task? I can chew a sunflower seed while tossing the shell away.

Oh, darn it all. There’s Emma. “Hey! What’re YOU doing here? Can’t a squirrel eat breakfast in peace?”

See how I did that? I told her! Cool, eh?

Uh-oh! What if she gets out of the backyard? Sometimes the people let her into the front.

I think … yup … it’s time … to RUN!

I bet I could catch you! I can jump, you know.

Not this high, you can’t. Nyah-na-na-naa-na!

Heeheeheeheeheeeeeee!
