Guarding Lunch

Usually, animals guard their food from the competition, but this is the first time I’ve actually seen one sitting on it.

Sometimes finding food is hard,

Instinct tells you to stand guard,

But when there’s no room to stand,

Sit down, let your big butt land.

No one else can get your food,

You don’t care if it seems rude,

Once you only stood and hovered,

Now you’ve really got it covered.

  8. The newest addition to our menagerie, a tabby named Rusty, is fascinated with our dog’s kibble. Likewise, our dog Rango is fascinated with the cat’s food. With Rango’s quirky personality, I can imagine him sitting on the kibble like a hen on her nest.

  12. Cute. I wonder what a book of table manners for squirrels would read like. First rule of etiquette: eat first and fastest!

  15. Funny, yet effective! If man would guard secrets as well as this squirrel guards his lunch, he just might render gossip obsolete.
