Water cooler gossip flows,

Fast as water from the hose,

Each one spouting what he knows,

As their petty nature shows.

Who does Princess think she is,

Wanting me to call her ms?

Prissy Missy minus fizz,

‘Cept her hairdo, which is frizz.

I see better from up here,

I can take my time and leer,

At her vanity severe,

Does she think we all will cheer?

La-dee-dah, the world is mine,

I’m a princess, looking fine,

Hollyhocks all in a line,

Happy shivers down my spine.

Of course you know this kind of talk is all for the birds.

Great poem and photos, Anneli! The Stellar’s jays are gorgeous; you must have had such fun watching them at the bird bath. Cheers.

Excellent bird gossip, Anneli! What a wonderful capture of the blue jay! I found them outside of my new home window also. I haven’t taken any photos of them yet. Hopefully, I will do it soon when my backyard is done and I can sit outside.

That was a fun poem, Anneli. I have to say, that’s also a beautiful bird. The Blue Jays around here are nice, but they seem much bigger and not nearly as striking as the one you show here.

Anneli, how nice that you show us Georg Steller’s jay. Yes, the German doctor Georg Steller was a truly outstanding naturalist. He was a brave, fearless and intelligent young man who was a caring doctor and passionate naturalist. Unfortunately, he died at the age of 37 on a research trip in Kamschatka.
There is a society that remembers him: https://www.steller-gesellschaft.de/
    Greetings from the beautiful Rhine-Highlands / Germany…

Thank you for this link, Rosie. What a sad life story this Georg had, and yet he seems like a brave soul to continue his work and his teachings as well as he possibly could in his short 37 years of life.

Ha ha. “this kind of talk is all for the birds.” Those jays do think they’re princesses, don’t they?

They are very handsome. Our jays here are mostly pink but also glamorous in their own way.
