Brightly lit, the night is silent,
Snow has muffled sound,
Footsteps spoil the peaceful evening,
Crunching all around.
Moonlight guides me to my cabin,
Warmth and comfort cheer,
Beauty outside, cozy fire,
Best of two worlds here.

What I liked is that the snow is up on the hill where it belongs.

That’s a glorious snow and a beautiful night, but honestly? I think I prefer our lesser snow. In another day it will be gone, and we’ll be back to the 50s and 60s. Our snow was like a polite guest; it came to visit, but didn’t stay too long!

Well, I’m not there, Brad. A friend who is on the ski hill sent me this recent photo, but I can imagine how beautiful it is there just now. I thought it looked like a postcard at first.

That sounds like the best of winter, Anneli. Your poem made me smile at memories of coming in from the cold. And that photo – amazing. It doesn’t look real!

I wish I could take credit for the photo, but it was a friend of mine (Pat) who took the picture. I agree though, he captured it beautifully.

Is that for real? It looks like a painting or the cover of a Christmas card. Is that the moon shining like a huge star in the sky? To capture the lighting so perfect where you can see everything yet not overexpose is phenomenal.

Thank you Anneli. I appreciate how your poem captures the timeless wonder of this winter scene. This January has brought even central Ohio a brief winter landscape to enjoy.
