I know I’m pretty, but beware,
My beak is tough as nails,
If any challenger would dare,
My bet is that he fails.

That intense blue is so beautiful and they are such graceful birds, too. But yes, beware the beak; it’s not to be trifled with! Wonderful capture, Anneli. 😊

I would love to have a blouse of that colour. Thanks for your nice comment, Lynette.

Oh, I think he is very vain. A bit of a bully too.

I’ve read about these, but somehow missed seeing a good photo of one. It’s a beautiful bird.

They’re related to crows and so have some of that nasty behaviour, but they are very striking looking.

These Steller’s Jays are so pretty, but it seems we have to come to B.C. to see them. Great photo Anneli. Happy Monday. Allan

But I think you have magpies instead.

Lots of magpies in Edmonton and in fact, they are now the official Edmonton bird. There are a few magpies in my little city, but many have been pushed out by the crows. Happy Monday. Allan

That’s funny, since they all belong to the corvidae family. Family feuds, I guess.

Where you are inland you probably see the eastern bluejay that is similar in shape but not in colour.
