Chrysanthemum

Chrysanthemums live on and on ,

With minimum of care,

They’ll bloom long after we are gone,

With memories to share.

  • This particular chrysanthemum was blooming on my mother’s deck. I brought it home to live with me after my mother died in 1982. It’s still going strong. Amazing plants, aren’t they?

That’s amazing! It’s 43 years old! They are very long-lived.

I suspect this mum, once a favorite of your mum, gets extra special care.

I never was so lucky with those plants. Only one of them was blooming again the following year.

Your mom is thinking of you a lot and is already a long long time in your house with you.

Yes, I’m sure she is thinking of me if that is at all possible. Anyway, it reminds me of her every time I look at the plant. Chrysanthemums are easy to care for but you have to keep them from freezing over the winter. That may be your problem where you live and it gets so cold in the winter.

I don’t have a green thumb, so I learned something new. They’re beautiful, Anneli.
