Anneli, your poem is truly touching and beautifully captures the delicate moments in nature. The fact that the little bird is scratching at the ground, searching for food, but has only found a rotten seed reflects the fragile balance in the ecosystem. The attached photo is impressive – it captures the bird in a very special mood. Thank you for sharing this nature observation with us!
I saw a bird similar to this on my front porch today. It had a slightly orange breast, but it didn’t have white. It was a light grayish. But I’m pretty sure it was a juvenile robin (after looking them up on the internet).

Oh! Poor little one. I hope the sun comes out soon so that the birds have better offerings – we’ve had so much rain here.

It has been one of the wettest springs I can remember. But there is still a lot of food for this guy to find.

He seems to be very mad by the looks of him. But he is so pretty anyway and the little poem explains his bad mood, thanks for sharing this post.

I think they always have that look. Maybe it’s the red eyes?!

I think the scruffy windblown feathers and the red eye help to give him that look.

Sounds like it could have been a robin or something in that thrush family.

Haha. That is definitely a disgruntled towhee. Your photo says it all, but I enjoy the poetic explanation of the expression as well. 🙂

Are you having a wet summer? It’s been pretty dry here so our birds have the opposite problem.
