A young eagle on one of his first outings.
Hmm! Great view from up here.
Kind of windy though.
Yikes! That gust nearly unseated me.
I wonder if I should find a better place. A bit exposed here….
Help! Eeeeek! Eeeeek! Mom!
My feathers are getting all ruffled up.
Starting to rain too.
Here comes the rain. Tiny drops are gathering on my feathers. And then there’s that wind. I think I should find another place to hang out. Lots of trees out there with branches for a better grip.

It was quite a surprise, but, being young and naive he posed for quite a while.

I bet you were thrilled, Anneli! We had dinner at a friend’s house not too far from our home. Someone pointed out an eagle. It was far away. I havn’t seen an eagle, young or adult, close up.

Fantastic pictures. What a lovely bird.
I love the words that you put in his mouth (or should it be beak).

What is WordPress doing. I had to sign in 3 times so they said, each time I pressed ‘comment’. The comment wasn’t there. Now it’s there twice!

Don’t worry about it, Vivienne. I think most people know by now that it is sometimes weird what WP does. Don’t give up.

Perhaps the National Weather Surface could add an alert: “Wind warnings on area feathers!”

LOL! I agree, Linda. That would be helpful to young eagles.

Awesome photos. Was that young fella (or lady) on your roof? Must’ve been looking for something to eat? Keep Emma close by. Do eagles have any predators they have to watch out for?

Sometimes the crows gang up on them, but I once saw the eagles get fed up and put the crows in their place – feathers flying.
That young eagle is just on his first few days of flying around after being raised in a nearby fir tree. And yes, they can be a danger for small dogs. I remember two of them swooping down on our springer (Ruby) when she was little. I hadn’t noticed the eagles sitting about halfway up a nearby fir. They were coming down for her, and I quickly turned myself into an umbrella and did a “spread eagle” motion over her to protect her. The eagles swooped up and kept going. I think Ruby would have been lunch that day if I hadn’t been there.
