That is a gorgeous photo, Anneli. The bare branches against a blue sky with the moon in the background – very dramatic. It could be the picture on the cover of a mystery novel.
Thanks, Annelie, for the way your poem subtly caused me to question the moon’s vow to return. Foundational things. Often taken for granted with fractional doubts, serving as the catalyst of both fears and dreams.
They’ve been visible a few times over the years but I’ve only seen them here once. Usually too much cloud cover or it’s too late at night. But when I lived farther north in BC, I saw it a lot. Fantastic displays sometimes. I remember thinking it looked like a giant waving those big velvet drapes they had in the movie theaters back in the day. Another time it was like tall skinny green ghosts high-stepping across the sky. That one scared me a bit (as a child) and I ran inside. Small town, we didn’t think anything of standing outside after 11 at night in the summertime (because it had only just gotten dark about that time).
Very cool. I’ve never had the pleasure of seeing them. They say you can see in even southern areas recently, but I haven’t seen them here, yet. Especially if they aren’t showing until late at night. 🥱

Thanks, Lynette. It was one of those extra early mornings of coffee in the living room when this moon did its thing.

A beautiful photo, Anneli! I noticed the moon was full the other day, high in the daytime sky. Lovely poem! ❤️

This is what happens when we personify the sun and the moon. We begin to give them possible powers (in our minds).

Yeah, that’s the problem – how late do you want to stay up? Also, it helps if it’s a clear sky. We don’t get many clear winter skies here.
