I think this is either a Eurasian moorhen or a dusky moorhen, probably the latter. They belong to the rail family.

I think there’s not much difference between male and female colouring in this case. Both are beautiful.

A fabulous photo. It looks like our moorhens in the UK, but maybe not quite as black.
We also have coots, which are bigger and with white where the moorhen is red.

We have coots here too. These birds are all part of the rail family. Funny birds, the way they move. A bit like chickens.
