Hungry?
Table is set
Who says there’s no free lunch?
Suet for me and seeds for you
Just right.
P.S. I just figured out why poets are encouraged to write cinquains. It’s to make sure they don’t ramble on too much.
Five lines with 2, 4, 6, 8, and 2 syllables respectively.

The birds have been mostly absent here of late, but yesterday, they were all about. Always good to see the birds. Short poems can say a lot Anneli. Happy Saturday. Allan

All the smart ones have left. I remember what a thrill it was in Dawson Creek to see the first bluebird in the spring.
And yes, with short poems you have to choose your words wisely.

It’s the same principle as the etherees I like. The structure demands some discipline, as well as creativity! (And the birds are delightful!)

I just looked up that form, Linda, and I think I’d like to give it a try. It would be a challenge.

If you go to The Task at Hand and do a search for etheree, you’ll find several that I’ve done over the years. They’re great fun! Everyone starts by counting syllables. Then, the challenge is to include rhythm and rhyme, even internal rhyme.

That’s a golden crowned sparrow. They have very nice songs with just a few notes.
