“What to do? What to do? Which ones should we go after, Dad?”
“That’s a tough one, Son. So many dinners. So little time….
I guess we watch for a cripple, or a loner, like always.”

Those are great captures, Anneli. And so true; who gets to be lunch? A few days ago I saw an eagle take a gull. It was lightning fast! The other gulls left pretty quickly after that; usually they don’t hang around at all because the eagles won’t tolerate them but I guess they have to try again every so often!

I bet that gull was surprised (and not in a good way).

A teaching moment, I guess. But I do feel sorry for the unlucky goose.

Maybe none of these, this time, but I’ve seen eagles fly over a flock of birds and scare them up. The weakest ones who can’t keep up with the rest are the ones they go for.

It’s the same for all predators: wolves, lions, eagles etc. They go for the weak or sick. This way the flocks and herds are kept strong.

Seems cruel but it’s true.
