Day is Done

Lord,

Let me

Catch up on

My sleep tonight.

Up before sunrise,

I leave the sheltered bay,

Dragging trolling gear all day,

Trying to fill the boat with fish,

Standing on my feet from dawn ’til dark

To make a living for my family.

A fantastic picture and a wonderful tribute, Anneli. One of my grandfathers was a farmer-fisherman.

I remember the Bible story of Simon and Andres who throw their net in the ocean and catch many after trusting Him. Beautiful thoughts, Anneli

A good tribute to fishers everywhere. It is not an easy way to make a living. Happy Monday Anneli. Allan

Anneli, I appreciate the smallest of details in this poem. Indeed, such a day is done! When my wife was growing up, she sometimes went out early in the morning with her grandfather, who operated a crab boat. She has shared several memories such as this from growing up along the Choptank River in Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

Thanks for that nice comment, Richard. I’m glad you could identify with parts of this “poetic” effort.
