Henry knows all the comfy seats up high in the fir trees. It was time to get off ground level. So many dogs were being walked in the nearby path. Up he climbed until he needed a break from the exertion. Just in time, he found his cot in a high-up perch and lay down for a midday nap.
I think I see an eye. I definitely see his right front foot. Count his fingers! His right (?) back foot is sticking up into the air. Apparently his bed is too small for him.
And of course there is the telltale-tail….

So cute, Anneli! I’d fall right off of that skinny branch. 🤭

I am glad we have no racoons here, although the skunks can make up for it some days. Happy Tuesday Anneli. Allan

It is a fun and cute poem, and that is a great picture. Is that a racoon?

They tend not to be much of a problem here – yet. Raccoons are so smart and resourceful but can be dangerous because of what they can carry and also because they can adapt so readily to urban areas. Some researchers think they are evolving to adapt to human environments which would separate them from their more wild relatives. https://www.cbc.ca/radio/thecurrent/raccoons-domestication-science-research-animals-9.6997038

I like to keep distance between them and us. My friend lost her dog to a raccoon. Their bites can be quite infectious.

They can definitely be very aggressive and they can carry ticks and fleas that might have Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, etc. Then there’s rabies and other infections. Sorry to hear that your friend lost her dog. Ugh.

You’re so right, Lynette. I have a healthy respect for raccoons, and try to keep my distance.

Fun to see a midday snooze in a tree, even for a bandit.

They like to do that. It’s safe up there for them (as long as the crows don’t discover them).
