Yes you are right, you do. But many people put books in the pane that they have just reviewed or want to promote. I am sorry I did not pay attention. Anyway, that is very impressive.

Dear Anneli, What a lovely invitation to spend part of the summer in the company of good stories! I’ve always thought that books are among the few things that actually increase in value once they leave their author. They begin a second life in the imagination of their readers, and no two reading experiences are ever exactly the same. I like it when novels impress me with their warmth, their keen observations, and their genuine affection for people. These are qualities that never go out of style, no matter the price. And perhaps that’s the best thing about a book fair: people might come for the discount, but if the story is good, they stay for entirely different reasons. That’s a really good deal—for both author and reader.

Thank you, Luanne. I thought it was too, because it is the untold story of hundreds of thousands of people from that area in that time, and I wanted to tell it at a human level — not a history book level — while still sticking to the facts. Thank you for reading it.
