Cool mist puffs
From stream to sea.
Icy droplets
Yearn to be free.
Oregon junco
Grasps a twig,
Craving bare ground,
He can dig.
Finding seeds and
Fat insects,
More like what
A bird expects.
Tiny sparrow
Sits alone,
So much snow
He can’t condone.
Keeping warm
and saving strength,
Sunny days
Will come at length.

Thanks a lot, Pit. I’ll be glad when the snow is gone though – pretty as it is.

Oh, and I found a great quote about that: “Feed the birds in winter; in return they will feed your soul with the look of gratitude.” Mehmet Murat ildan

Auf die fetten Würmer müssen die Vögel noch warten, aber wir Menschen können ihnen gutes Futter anbieten.
Wunderschöne Fotos und fantastischer Schnee zum Anschauen 😀 ❤

That’s right, Mathilda. And the more we help out, the more chance they have to survive.

Do we dare start counting yet? But right now, we’re having a little turn-around in the weather, so the coming rain should wash away a lot of this snow. There’s hope!

Stunning mountain vista, that’s some serious snow ❄️ No wonder the birds look like little fluff balls all puffed up trying to stay warm. Lovely photos.

Absolutely beautiful photos of the landscape and the birdies. Did you just “wing” it when you threw the cute poem together? Ha ha ha. Very sweet post. Warmer weather is just around the bend. (I hope)

Haha. As a matter of fact, I did (just wing it), but it shows. I’m so glad to see it warming up ever so slightly.
