“Hey, Charlie! Come over here. I think I’ve found some bugs.”
“Yeah? Where?”
“Well … they were here a second ago.”
“Oh! Wait! I think I see him.”
“This is taking way too long. If you don’t mind, I think I’ll go looking for my own again.”
Charlie and Cherry were cruising the patch,
Hoping to find bugs to go down the hatch,
Cherry was choosy and took far too long,
Charlie flew off and instead sang a song.

Thanks, Ursula. I love watching these guys because they’re very friendly and let me come fairly close. They’re in my weed garden a lot.

Thanks, Belinda. I just found out the name of these birds. I had thought they were ruby-crowned kinglets, but they are not. They’re chipping sparrows. So I’ve learned something about my own backyard.

They’re common, but sure are pretty birds. At least to me. So cool to get such closeup pics.

That depends on where you live, Lori. They’re not that common here, but I’ve noticed them staying around here more this year. I like how friendly they are, and yes, I find them pretty too. So nice that you see more of them where you live.

I used to see a lot when I had a bird feeder. Not so much anymore. ๐

I find that the feeders attract a lot of birds, but I had to take mine down recently because the raccoons were getting brazen about coming to rip them down. I’ll take a break and try again later.

They better spend more time eating them! I’ve heard birds need to eat all the time! (like me)

How have we missed each other’s blogs lately?! I love your animal/bird stories, as you know. I don’t usually do this, but here’s my post from two Fridays ago. I bet you’d come up with a better name than Miss Muffett! https://roughwighting.net/2022/05/06/the-rewards-of-a-simple-life/

I think WordPress kicked me off your blog. I thought you were just busy and weren’t blogging. So happy to reconnect.

Oh nooooo! I know this happens, though. Perhaps the same with you. I’m going to check right now. I happened to see your name on another blog and that’s how I ‘found’ you again. โค

Thank you, Jill. They are friendly birds in the same way that chickadees are, so they didn’t fly away as soon as they saw me with the camera. I think they liked getting their picture taken.

Thanks, Carol. The photo is of the Comox Glacier on Vancouver Island. A big highlight of our town – but the ice pack is getting smaller every summer.
