Common Columbine

A warning to the people’s pet,

If you decide to eat me,

Just don’t be shocked how sick you’ll get,

So leave me as you meet me.

*Disclaimer: I think hummingbirds are exempt from harm when they drink the nectar. I hope so anyway.

Is this a humming bird which is sucking at the nectar? Those little flowers look so harmless

That is such a beautiful capture, Anneli! I looked up that question and the answer is that hummers can’t get sick from the nectar even if the foliage and other parts of the plant are toxic, so they’re completely safe. 😊 Cheers.

Good reminder. I’d forgotten why I avoid these gorgeous flowers.

I didn’t know they were toxic but still beautiful and yummy for hummingbirds.

Gorgeous photo, Anneli, and I learned something new. Hope they’re okay for hummingbirds.
