Thanks, Lynette. A neighbour gave me these poppy plants over 25 years ago and they remind me of her every year. (She’s been “up there” looking down on her poppies for many years now. I think she’d be pleased.)
Dear Anneli
We have lots of Oriental Poppies in our garden. They spread like weeds, but they make every flowerbed look friendly because of their colour. We love them.
All the best

I wonder if you’re thinking of the wild red poppies that look similar and reseed themselves. These poppies in my photo come up from the roots each year. They do have seeds but they don’t seem to spread much with the seeds. I wonder if you may be thinking of the “Flanders Fields” kind of poppies.

Thanks, Erika. I do too. They are early bloomers and they cheer me up, knowing that spring is here.

It seems almost like every plant has a story. Many of them do anyway.

Thanks, Grant. We’re very lucky to have so much life around our yard with all the trees and shrubs for plants and animals to feel comfortable in.

They are gorgeous. We had a hill filled with them in one of our houses.

Lovely poem, Anneli. Poppies are wonderful. I had a lovely ping one that grew from seed in a previous garden.

You are right, I was thinking of the so called Californian Poppies and the Flanders Field Poppies. Poppies with lots and lots of seeds.

They are definitely more prolific, but very beautiful, especially in great quantities.
