This is the last of my alternating flower and bird photo poems. I suppose I could call them phoems. Thank you to those who hung in there until the end. I’ll spare you now and space out my posts a little more.
I love the heat, yet here I am,
With lolling tongue stuck out,
But please don’t take offense, madame,
I’m no ill-mannered lout.
I lure the bees in with my tongue,
They pollinate my throat,
And even though I’m still so young,
My beauty is of note.

Thanks, Ursula. Irises are pretty and they are also very tough plants, withstanding all kinds of weather conditions.

Thanks, Lynette. I especially like this iris. I wait for it every year. All the rest are the ordinary blue or yellow ones, but I like this one. They seem to have little faces with furry tongues.

Preferences are funny things. I’ve never particularly enjoyed bearded iris, but I must say that the colors of these are wonderful. They might be the prettiest I’ve seen.

We love this colour best. Writing this, I see an iris of this colour in our garden whose beauty is of note.
Thanks for sharing your fine picture, dear Anneli 🙏 🙏

Some of them are really unique. I would have a whole garden full of them if I could. Nice to hear that you have irises too.

I’ve always liked irises. This two-toned one is a favourite of mine. Nice to remember your mom’s irises!

It’s funny how the different climate changes each year can be good for some plants and not for others.

My plain old wild irises (bluey purple) are in bloom, nothing fancy like your beauty, Anneli. You make me want to add some bulbs to the garden in the fall. Lovely!

I have those blue ones too, and some yellow ones, but it’s nice to add some other colours. I like the white ones, but I don’t have any. Maybe next year.

BTW, Whatup with the Canadian fires? I know our media never reports the truth so I thought I’d ask someone living up there. Are they as bad as they sound?

It sounds like they are pretty bad. Unusual for this early in the year, I think, but it has been drier this winter (in that area – Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta). That oculd be because all the rain has been falling on us out near the coast, more than usual. Crazy weather. I read that 7% of the fires are human caused, 93% natural conditions. It’s really far from us, but still terrifying for those who live near the fires. Lots of evacuations.

Thank you. Our news is reporting mostly man-made. Ridiculous. I believe natural. That’s what nature does–regenerate, but maybe she’d slow her roll a tad on this one!

It makes for more of a sensational story if they can report it that way. I don’t think anyone knows for sure, but that’s what they’re saying right now. I know last year there were a lot of man-made wildfires, some of them, arson.
