That’s a great capture, Anneli. Where is that? It looks like it could be Alberta (although there wouldn’t be any quail).

Thanks, Lynette. It’s at Wanapum State Park, about 140 miles east of Seattle (wild guess, as I remember it) on I-90. It’s by a dam on the Columbia. Rattlesnake warning signs everywhere. If you find Vantage on the left side of the highway, you’ll see Wanapum on the right as you head east from Seattle.

The coyote will rest in the sun all day, waiting for quails, the more of them, the better because they are so small. Nice picture!

Yes, there are a lot of them and they are small. I wish coyotes would eat sagebrush.

We have coyotes here, in my neighborhood. They usually cross my driveway somewhere after midnight.

It’s just in the news about a woman being attacked by a coyote in a park in Mississauga (near Toronto) and seriously injured. Be careful if you have coyotes who are becoming habituated.

That’s a big coyote. Ours are a bit smaller. There’s been a wolf sighted recently here (I saw it way in the distance), but now I’m wondering if it wasn’t a large coyote.

Could be a coyote. Less likely to be a wolf, but not impossible.
