Another photo from my friends’ holiday in Australia.
Is it a duck or a goose? It seems to have features of both and its Latin name has been adjusted somewhat (from chen to anser?) to cover both features. Not sure about the Latin names, but there is definitely something goosey about this wood “duck.”

Wow! Another interesting Australian creature. A flightless goose-duck. It really does look like a cross.

A goose bill and rather large body for a duck but it’s called a duck …. It’s its own creature.

The birds down under in Aus and NZ are so varied. This wood duck is not at all similar to the ones we see in Stanley Park. Happy Wednesday Anneli. Allan

Ours nest in tree cavities as well. It’s a lovely photo of this different looking wood duck.
