I’ve hired some help in the garden this year. She’s done a beautiful job of sorting out the weeds and making a lot of bare soil ready for planting. I love it, but the robins love it even more.
When they see a patch of newly disturbed soil, they move in to mine it for food to feed their children.
“Look what I found under the rhubarb plant!”
But wait! There’s even better shopping along the fence. Watch the video and see what the robin comes up with.
“Want a closer look at what I found?”

They are sooo cute!! I was thinking that you could put a net over the garden but nope. ❤️

The only time I do that is when the strawberries are ripe and I watch to make sure no birds get tangled.

They get tangled if the netting is loose or there’s an opening. I’d hate to lose a bird over a few strawberries.

Good morning, dear Anneli
What a beautiful garden you have.
Here the Robins have their young ones too and are quite busy as well. Great picture of the young robins.
All the best

I don’t think earthworms are endangered. Robins–maybe!

I think a garden should be shared, Anneli, and that certainly seems like the case at your house! Great pictures, especially of the babies. 🙂 🙂

Indeed, it’s fascinating to watch these ground scavengers searching for a fresh bite of nutrition to take back to the nest. So tasty!

They’re very resourceful. They watch when I’m working in the garden and as soon as I leave any patch of bare ground, they’re in there.
