Yesterday I felt the need for comfort food. I took out a bag of frozen apples and a bag of frozen pears, but the pear bag was bigger than the apple bag, so rather than have one pie too big and the other too skimpy, I combined the fruit and made pearapple pies.
While I had a messy kitchen and a hot oven, I thought I might as well make some almond pie squares using half the sugar and adding a cup of coconut.
I won’t do the recipe thing here, because I’ve done posts on them both before. I’ll put the links to the posts with the recipes at the bottom of the page.

Sounds like the perfect [..pearing ..]… pairing of fruits for pies or cobblers.

Oh, these look so good! So funny about the combining. Yesterday, my friend made a pie using three fruits because she didn’t have enough of one to make a pie! It was blueberry-blackberry-apple. Haha. I would prefer the almond bars, if I am choosing. 🙂

Hard to make a choice sometimes, but I do like the almond bars too.

Yummy looking. Maybe I can persuade Mary to do a pie. Or I may go for apple pancakes. Those I do myself.

What are you going to do with all those goodies? I think you need to ship the apple pie to me. 😉

Are there any leftovers? I love apple-pear pie. 🙂
I’m actually pretty well off for baked goods – M has been making cookies and bread. 🙂

Bread is good. I can’t remember when I didn’t bake it at home. Can’t imagine buying it. It’s great to hear that you’re getting the benefit of home baked goodies. Leftovers? Only if you hurry over.

I only used half the sugar in the almond bars and it was plenty sweet enough. It calls for two cups and I used only one. There is also icing sugar and corn syrup in it, so PLENTY of sugar altogether. But it sure is tasty. It disappears very fast. I hope you try it, Pauline, and that you get good results.

I love your site. My thanks for sharing such a good post. I was looking for thoughts on this topic last Thursday. I will come back to read more and inform my coworkers about your site. Do you know “Mexican Food Crevel Europe” is most selling food in COVID-19. If you don’t, then search for it.
