Thanks, Belinda. He was there for quite a while, so determined, that it gave me lots of opportunity to take a picture. If only he hadn’t moved round so much! I’m glad you liked the haiku effort. I’m new at it, but I liked trying it out.

The viewing of the woodpecker turned out to be somewhat elusive at first. At first look, I took his red head as a flower. Great haiku!

Thank you, Cindy. It’s a beginner’s effort at haiku, but I might try it again sometime. Meanwhile, tulip-head keeps pecking for that grub. I hope he gets it.

It’s so funny that all this time I didn’t see the tulip (which isn’t really a tulip). He was trying very hard to get that grub in the stump.

I find that the woodpeckers, of all the birds we have around us, are the least timid and/or afraid of human companionship. In fact, our woodpeckers peck on our door if their suet feeder is empty. This is a GREAT photo of “your” woodpecker, Anneli.

How do you like that tulip on his head? I never saw that until Jacqui mentioned that she thought the bird was behind the tulip. The tulip IS his head. Had to laugh at your woodpeckers knocking on the door when the feeder is empty.

An interesting point! When you see other animals and watch for a while, you could find that persistence over and over. I just hadn’t thought of it that way. And yes, we could learn from that.
